Essential Astrology — Your First Natal Chart
The Institute's foundational astrology course. Over 12 classes across 3 months you'll learn what planets, signs, houses, and aspects are, and how to read them in your own natal chart. No prior knowledge needed. Includes recordings and an interpretation template you can reuse forever.
Is this course for you?
Ideal if you already know your sun sign but have never learned to read your full birth chart.
It can be especially helpful if today:
- You know your sign, but not what to do with the rest of your birth chart
- You want a solid foundation to keep studying astrology later on
- You'd rather learn to interpret it yourself instead of always relying on someone else's reading
It can help you explore questions like:
- "How do I interpret my full birth chart, not just my sign?"
- "Where do I start studying astrology seriously?"
- "Can I learn to read my own chart without depending on someone else?"
What's included
- 12 live classes by video call, one per week
- Recording of every class
- Reusable natal chart interpretation template

FAQ for this course
Do I need to know my exact birth time?
It's ideal for calculating your ascendant and houses, but you can still take the course without it: you'll learn to interpret planets and signs, and we'll explain how to estimate your time if needed.
Can I take it with no prior knowledge?
Yes, it's the Institute's foundational astrology course, designed to start from zero.
What's the difference from the site's free birth chart calculator?
The calculator gives you your planetary positions instantly; this course teaches you to interpret them yourself, step by step, with live guidance.
Does it include a certificate?
This course doesn't include certification; that's covered in the Transits & Cycles — Predictive Astrology course.
